God designed each one of us for community. This means that we will not grow and experience the fullness of the Christian life outside of helping and being helped by others in the church. The way that we do this at Grace is through our small groups. Below you will find a variety of small groups that are available for Fall 2017. These groups represent the heart of our church and we invite you to sign up and discover the joy of connecting with others and the power of God for a transformed life. Below the description small group opportunities are the answers to some of the most common questions that people ask.
Lord, Teach Us to Pray
Sundays at 5:30 PM beginning on Sept. 10
Length: 6 weeks
Leader: Jeff Jones
Join Pastor Jeff for a 6-week journey into a deeper prayer life. If you know that your prayer life is not what it should be, rest assured that you are not alone. Do not give in to the voice of the evil one who seeks to convince you that this is just the way it is. Let’s look at what prayer is and what it is not. In this class we’ll address why we should, what to do with disappointment in prayer, and how it is that we move from thinking that “we ought to pray” to the place where we find joy, peace, and life in prayer. When: Sunday mornings at 11 AM beginning on August 27
Length: 32 weeks
Leader: Jim Acklin
Disciple IV Under the Tree of Life is the final study in the four-phase DISCIPLE program. The study concentrates on Old Testament Writings, the Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, James, Jude, and finally, Revelation. Emphasis on the Psalms as Israel’s hymnbook and prayer book leads naturally to an emphasis on worship in the study. Present through the entire study is the sense of living toward completion – toward the climax of the message and the promise, extravagantly pictured in Revelation. The image of the tree and the color gold emphasize the prod and promise in the Scriptures. The word under in the title is meant to convey invitation, welcome, sheltering, security, and rest – home at last. Sign up at http://www.gracefs.com/events/disciple-4-2/.
The Remnant Prayer Group
When: Wednesday Nights from 6:00–7:00 PM beginning on September 13
Length: From September 13–November 15
Leaders: Kay Pryor and Lynn Jeans
This group is designed to put into practice community prayer; to apply life group studies on prayer or related topics that you may have taken in the past. We have learned that there is power in group prayer. Jesus said in Matthew 18:20: “For where two or three gather in My Name, there am I with them.” This is a great opportunity for us to come together as a body of believers to strengthen our church, to pray for our country and its leaders, to pray for persecuted Christians, and to pray for one another. If individuals prefer not to pray out loud silent prayer is welcome. If you have questions, you can contact Kay Pryor at 479 461-3880. To sign up, CLICK HERE.
