Small Groups and Studies

God designed each one of us for community.  This means that we will not grow and experience the fullness of the Christian life outside of helping and being helped by others in the church.  The way that we do this at Grace is through our small groups.  Below you will find a few of the small groups that are continuing to meet during the winter.  These groups represent the heart of our church and we invite you to sign up and discover the joy of connecting with others and the power of God for a transformed life.  Below the description small group opportunities are the answers to some of the most common questions that people ask.

The Book of James:  July 11-August 22 (Wednesday Nights from 6:00-7:30)

True faith produces fruit. A faith without action and without life change is ultimately a dead faith. The book of James speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus—the kind of roll-up-your-sleeves and get-your-hands-dirty discipleship that is borne out of an authentic relationship with the risen Lord. James writes to believers who know suffering, who’ve faced trials, and who ultimately desire a deep relationship with God.  The study of this book will challenge you to move beyond a private, intellectual knowledge of God and His Word, to a vibrant faith that impacts every square inch of life.  Click Here to sign up.

DivorceCare: August 12-November 18 (Sunday nights 5:30-7:30pm)
Divorced? Separated?  We can help!

Unless you’ve been there, it’s hard to understand the hurt that comes from separation and divorce. But we do. Our DivorceCare group is led by people who have been through divorce and successfully rebuilt their lives. John and Brenda Hook will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone.

DivorceCare is a support group that will meet every Sunday evening, August 12 – November 18, 2018. The program is non-denominational and features practical information and biblical teaching for recovering from divorce or separation.  You’ll find it to be a warm, caring environment and will come to see your group as an “oasis” in an otherwise difficult season of your life. Registration fee:  $15 (scholarships available)  Free childcare will be provided.  Click HERE to sign up.

DISCIPLE I Bible Study: Begins August 19th (Sunday mornings 10:45am-12:45pm) for 34 weeks

DISCIPLE is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian leaders. The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. DISCIPLE draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the participant, and dynamic group discussion to aid understanding of the Bible. The first study in the program is DISCIPLE: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY, a thirty-four week overview of the entire Bible. Study will be led by Mary Carter.

Commitment and Time Involved
Three and one-half to four hours of independent study each week (40 minutes daily for leaders and 30 minutes daily for group members) in preparation for weekly group meetings.
Attendance at weekly 2 hour meetings.

The Bible is the text for the study and the study manual will guide group members in their study and preparation for the weekly group session. Is there childcare available?  Yes, free childcare is available for both the Sunday night and Wednesday night classes.

Where will these classes meet?  All of the classes will meet at the church.

Why is there a cost for some of the classes?  Some of the classes require a book or a workbook.  The cost of the class simply covers the cost of the book or workbook.  Some of the classes are subsidized by the church to make it as affordable as possible.  We don’t ever want finances to be a limiting factor for anyone.  If you need financial assistance, simply contact pastor Jeff at and we will make sure that you have all the resources necessary for the class.
