Small Groups and Studies

God designed each one of us for community.  This means that we will not grow and experience the fullness of the Christian life outside of helping and being helped by others in the church.  The way that we do this at Grace is through our small groups.  Below you will find a few of the small groups that are continuing to meet during the winter.  These groups represent the heart of our church and we invite you to sign up and discover the joy of connecting with others and the power of God for a transformed life.  Below the description small group opportunities are the answers to some of the most common questions that people ask.

Tired of feeling sorry for yourself? Sick of answering the same old questions about why you still haven’t found your perfect match? Despite what many people think, singleness is not a disease. It’s not the lesser option. Singleness is God’s gift to you today.

In Thrive, Lina AbuJamra – who has been single for over 40 years – will show you how you can make a difference with your life right now instead of sitting around waiting for something to happen to you. If you’re ready to figure out what God has to say about singleness instead of relying on your own feelings and conclusions, this study is for you.

Isn’t it time you get excited about your life in Christ and quit falling back into the same old pattern of thinking? Freedom. Joy. Abundance. Hope. All these are yours the moment you embrace all that God has for you right here right now.  Life as a single Christian is good. Class is not limited to those that are single. Click HERE to sign up.

Emotional Healing: The Greatest Hindrance to Peace – Unforgiveness   Begins October 3, Wednesday morning 10:00-11:30am   WOMEN ONLY

Say “Goodbye” to Unhealthy Emotions and “Hello” to True Peace.  Are you ready to experience the life God intended? You can! It’s time, once and for all, to be rid of the unhealthy emotions that are holding you back from experiencing the deep and personal love God has for you and His peace that surpasses understanding.

We want to see women spiritually healed from past or present hurts, so they are free to experience the wonderful presence of God every day. These hurts can produce various emotional struggles resulting in feelings of resentment and unforgiveness, anger, fear, guilt, and shame, and more. Using the biblical, prayer-based program designed by Dr. Jim Gardner, you will learn how to resolve these negative emotions.

This group is life transforming for women who are ready to “do” the work. So, if you have tried everything else, maybe it’s time to let God take it from here. This group will meet in the home of Joanne Craig on Wednesdays at 10:00-11:30. The number of group participants is limited, so don’t hesitate to sign up if you are interested. Click HERE to sign up.

Heaven: Begins October 3 (Wednesday evenings 6:00-7:00pm)

Have you ever wondered if the present Heaven is different from the eternal Heaven? Will we recognize our families? What will we do every day? Will we remember our life on earth? Will we eat and drink? Will there be animals and will our pets be there?

After 25 years of research, Dr. Randy Alcorn has the answers. In the most comprehensive and definitive book on heaven to date, Randy invites us to picture Heaven the way scripture describes it…a bright, vibrant and physical New Earth, free from sin, suffering, and death and brimming with Christ’s presence, wondrous natural beauty, and the richness of human culture as God intended it.

Join Joanne Craig on this adventure to learn the answers to these and other fascinating questions in this 8 week exciting study of Heaven. You won’t want to miss this! Click HERE to sign up.

By having them read and reread the same book, we are helping train new believers to interact with the text and ask deeper questions, thereby imparting important Bible study skills. The study also includes practical illustrations that model different ways to teach some foundational lessons. It Starts At Home  Begins November 4  (Sunday evenings 5:30-7:00pm)

Who is shaping what your kids believe?

In these busy, hectic days we take our kids to sports practices, games, music lessons, school tutoring and other activities to give our children the best opportunities for success. But what if we’re missing the chance to teach them what matters most?

Our children can grow up smart, athletic, popular and polite but lack a vibrant relationship with Christ. The few hours they spend in church each week can be helpful, but it cannot nurture a faith in our kids that will withstand the trials that are on the horizon. Church alone cannot teach them, we must start at home. But many parents feel ill equipped to develop the faith of their children.

In these six sessions, we will explore biblical and tangible ways that parents—couples, single parents, blended families and grandparents—can build a legacy of faith for their children. Each session includes interviews with everyday parents talking about their own doubts, fears and desires. Gary Thomas, Matt Chandler, and Kurt and Olivia Bruner provide powerful teaching that will help you give your kids what they need to build a solid framework for lifelong faith. Leaders are Steve and Erin DeLassus. Click here to sign up.

Encounter Jesus: Begins November 27 (Tuesday mornings 10:00-11:30am)

The video sessions are 30 minutes each with an accompanying workbook that offers a daily study and faith exercises. Through this book, you will gain a better understanding about the character of Jesus and discover practical, proven ways to encounter Jesus today. Kathyrn O’Brien will serve as the leader.
