What does it mean to truly hear from God? Not just to gather information, but to be moved, changed, and sent back into the world with renewed purpose? Daniel 12 brings us to the close of one of Scripture's most mysterious and awe-inspiring books, and it does something unexpected. It does not resolve every question. It does not hand us a neat timeline or a complete explanation of every symbol and number. Instead, it calls us to faithfulness. The passage speaks of a time of suffering and persecution, yet assures us that everyone whose name is written in the book will be delivered. It promises that those who are wise, those who see life from God's perspective, will shine like stars and draw others into a right relationship with God. This is not merely a prophecy about the distant future. It is a word spoken directly into the chaos and uncertainty of everyday life, reminding us that the one who is truly in charge is not the arrogant ruler, not the empire, not the forces of evil that seem to be winning. The same question Daniel asked, how long, is the question on the lips of anyone who has ever chosen faithfulness at great personal cost. And the answer we receive is the same one Daniel received. The time of distress is limited. It will not go on forever. And in the moment when God's people appear most broken, God moves. We do not need every answer to be faithful. We need only to go our way.
